Saquon Barkley’s residence in the Malvern section of Tredyffrin Township, Chester County, was the target of a home invasion early Saturday morning, according to the Chester County District Attorney’s Office. The incident occurred around 5 a.m., with Barkley and his family inside the home at the time.
One suspect entered the residence before fleeing prior to police arrival, authorities said. No injuries were reported, and investigators believe nothing was taken from the home.
“All of the occupants in the home were physically OK, obviously a little unsettled as anybody would be, but nobody was harmed,” said Capt. Tyler Moyer of the Tredyffrin Township Police Department.
Police released images of a white SUV they believe may have been connected to the incident, though Moyer indicated the vehicle was likely not the only one involved. “We know there’s more than one, but we’re still trying to determine how many were involved,” he said.
The Tredyffrin Township Police Department is working with federal and other law enforcement agencies to determine whether the break-in could be linked to a broader pattern of burglaries targeting professional athletes’ homes across the country — a trend that has drawn increasing attention from both sports leagues and federal investigators over the past two years.
“We will look at all angles of this because we know, obviously, it’s been all over the news in the past few years about different professional athletes’ homes getting burglarized,” Moyer said.
The DA’s office is asking residents in the area to check home security cameras for any suspicious activity around 5 a.m. Saturday and to contact the Tredyffrin Township Police Department at 610-644-3221 with any relevant footage or information.
Barkley, 28, is coming off a historic first season with the Philadelphia Eagles in which he rushed for 2,005 yards — the eighth-highest single-season total in NFL history — and helped anchor the league’s top-ranked offense. The Eagles acquired the former Penn State star and New York Giant on a three-year, $37.75 million contract in March 2024.
Neither the Eagles organization nor Barkley’s representatives have issued public statements regarding the incident as of Sunday.
