MLB pulled back the curtain Monday on the uniforms the Phillies and Twins will wear when they square off in Dyersville, Iowa, for the 2026 Field of Dreams game on Aug. 13. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, and for the first time the game will stream live on Netflix.
Both clubs went deep into the archives. The Phillies will wear gray road unis modeled on the ones they wore from 1939 through 1941 — a red “Phillies” script that climbs upward across the chest, outlined in navy blue, with red and navy striping running along the collar, sleeves, down the middle of the jersey, and up the sides of the gray pants. The sleeve patch is a replica of the one Philadelphia wore in 1939, commemorating what was then believed to be baseball’s centennial. A navy cap with a bold red “P” in the franchise’s historic font and navy socks round out the look.
The Twins went with their original 1960s home set: white pinstripes, no trim, navy “Twins” script across the chest with a red outline and that familiar tail on the final letter underlining the word. Back numbers are navy, outlined in red. The sleeve carries the classic “Minnie and Paul” logo — two figures shaking hands across a map of Minnesota, a patch that’s been around since the franchise arrived from Washington. The cap front shows the interlocking white T and red C, paired with navy socks.
Now, I coached football for 22 years and I’ll tell you — I never cared much what the jerseys looked like as long as the boys could sweat in them and the numbers were legible from the press box. But there’s something to be said for honoring the folks who laid the foundation. The Phillies’ centennial patch dates to a time when most of my players’ great-granddaddies were in knee pants. The Twins’ “Minnie and Paul” patch goes back to when the Senators packed up and moved to Minnesota. That’s not marketing. That’s a family heirloom stitched onto a sleeve.
The Field of Dreams game has become one of MLB’s better ideas since the first edition in 2021 — a temporary ballpark built adjacent to the movie site, surrounded by cornfields, with the original diamond visible beyond the outfield fence. The league skipped 2023 and 2024 before returning in 2025. The 2026 edition marks the first time Netflix will carry the broadcast, a shift that tells you MLB sees the game as more than a regional curiosity.
Philadelphia and Minnesota both have the kind of rosters that should make for a competitive game under those conditions, though the cornfield backdrop tends to matter more than the standings when the lights come on in Dyersville. The uniforms are the headline today, and both franchises got the details right — the striping, the patches, the cap logos, the socks. Everything matches the source material.
