A speculative Reddit post has ignited discussion about the Philadelphia 76ers potentially fielding a starting lineup with four players averaging over 20 points per game—a feat no NBA team has ever accomplished for a full season. The proposed lineup includes Tyrese Maxey (28.3 PPG), rookie VJ Edgecombe (16.0 PPG in college), Jaylen Brown (28.7 PPG), LeBron James (20.9 PPG), and Joel Embiid (26.9 PPG). While Edgecombe’s projection is based on college stats, the other four have proven NBA scoring ability.

According to multiple StatMuse headlines, LeBron James has signed with the 76ers, a move that reshapes the Eastern Conference. The 76ers also drafted VJ Edgecombe third overall in the 2025 NBA Draft. Head coach Nick Nurse enters his third season after leading the team from a 24-58 record in 2024-25 to 45-37 in 2025-26, securing the seventh seed. However, injuries remain a concern: Embiid played only 19 games last season and underwent knee surgery, while Paul George missed 45 games.

The historical question is whether any team has ever had four starters average 20+ PPG for a full season. The Reddit post claims no team has, noting that the 1969-70 Lakers had four such players but Wilt Chamberlain only played 12 games. If the 76ers’ projected lineup stays healthy, they could make history—but chemistry and minutes distribution under Nurse will be critical.
